Formation of Self-similarity Spatial Structures in Modulator-unstable Medium

Abstract

The energy loss processes in non-equilibrium media, which can change in workmanlike manner the form, shape and quality of nonlinear structures are discussed. It is shown, in media, where condition of modulation instability of mature structures is fulfilled and there is a small threshold crossing of that instability, the appeared line spectrum of structure causes to the cascade of instabilities, which produce the self-similar structure. The modulation instabilities of mature spatial structures in media with and witàout wave motions (i.e. the wave, propagating in medium with cubic nonlinearity, and the convective cells in a layer fluids) are considered. The conditions of appearance and experimental observations of the self-similar structures on the surface and in the volume of solid state are discussed.
