Electromagnetic Field in Materials with Negative Refractive Index

Abstract

We investigate the propagation of harmonic plane waves in a slab made of a Veselago material with negative refractive index and applications to Veselago lenslike slabs (perfect lenses) and to twinned dielectric - Veselago slabs transparent to electromagnetic field are discussed.

The same analysis is performed for propagation in homogeneous, isotropic Veselago chiral media endowed with Drude-Born-Fedorov constitutive relations and through dielectric-chiral (conventional or Veselago) interfaces.
