Effects of Periodic Microwave Irradiation on Paraffin Plug Meltdown in Oil Well Tubing

Abstract

A study is made on asphalt-paraffin plug removal in oil well tubing, using a modulated electromagnetic radiation emission source, working in the periodic operation mode. By way of the numeric heat conductance equation solution, the plug melt-through dynamics is brought to light and plug removal time is determined vs. microwave source duty factor and its continuous operation mode duration within one cycle.
